  • Few Questions

    Hello everybody

I have got a few questions...

    What is off-lable prescribing?
I think i have ideas about what it is about , but i am not fully sure.

Primary prescribers , what are they?
are they the same as independent prescribers or are they completely different?

    Any help would be great!
    Thank you
    Mahesh

Off-label is prescribing outside the product licence.
The uses within the product licence are detailed in the SmPC (or SPC for short) these are accessible on the internet at <<www.medicines.org.uk>>
Some of the unlicenced, therefore off label uses are mentioned in the BNF.
    <<bnf.org>>

I'll let someone else take the prescribers part of the question
    47 BC : Julius Cesar : Veni Vidi Vici : I came, I saw I conquered.
    2018 AD : Modern Man : I shopped, I clicked, I collected.
    How times change.

If you find you have read something that has upset or offended you an anyway please unread it at once.

        Re: Few Questions

I’ve never heard the term “primary prescriber” before (so don't just take my word for it) but I think that it relates to supplementary prescribing where the “primary prescriber” (i.e. the one who makes the initial diagnosis and prescribes the initial drug(s)) is a doctor and the “secondary prescriber” (the one who carries on with the prescribing in accordance to a clinical management plan) is a supplementary prescriber (nurse, pharmacist etc).
