  • Hospital or community pre-reg? confused

Hi i'm new to this, so first id like to say 'helllo'.

I've just been offered a pre-reg place at Leicester hospitals and I am waiting on an offer from Lloyds pharmacy. I'm confident that i will get a place at Lloyds aswell. I don't know whether i should do my pre-reg at the hospital or at lloyds (ie community pharmacy).

I have heard from other students that the pre-reg exam is based mainly on community related stuff, thus will i be at a disadvantage working in hospital???

Please please help... ne1 hu's done pre-reg at hospital or any hospital pre-reg tutors or any1 hu knws anythng please....

    Thnxxx

    Hi,

I am not entirely sure which is better. I am doing mine in a community.

Most hospitals have an arrangement with local pharmacies for pre regs to have a placement for a few weeks.
Pre regs in the community often looked at as cheap labour.

I did my pre reg at leicester hospitals and qualified last year. I'd say definitely go for hopsitals especially if your offer is at leicester. The training is great and you won't be missing anything on community side

                Hi,

I thought i should join the debate as I am also currently doing my pre-reg in hospital. I am doing my ACT training at the moment, so ramroum don't complain, i've not even been up on the wards yet

I experienced both hospital and community but in the end, I chose hospital for my pre-reg because I'm more attracted to the clinical side. Personally, I find hospital pharmacy more challenging, (e.g. you come across more drugs). I would recommend hospital pre-reg definately!
