I am interested in people opinions on the implementation and use of the ETP systems that they are using!
Thanks
Skye
Don't make any decision to change supplier until EPS R2 is ready, would be my advice. I don't think EPS R1 is being used all the time for every possible prescription that it can be used for. Most are submitting the numbers needed for continuing EPS payments and then dispensing the paper scripts.

Why not give cegedimrx a call.
They have two systems to choose from, Nexphase and Pharmacy Manager. Both of these systems have their followings amongst us pharmacists.
The plus factor with these systems for pharmacies is that they are not 'bound' to a particular wholesalers inventory, but that might not bother you.
I wonder if the GP systems can be set up to 'separate out' enteral feeds from the items that you don't want/can't supply. You might want to talk to CfH (Connecting for Health, not Cash for Honours <g> about that before its too late!)
Been on most of the sites about, some more general than just pharmacy solution specialists...
Cegedim are deff standing out now they have taken over from Enigma Health. It is deff a possitive that they have two solutions that could meet our needs!!!
We are also trying to find someone who will provide peripherals and software rather than a complete hardware package, as we have out own inhouse IT.
We will also be using the system for some specialised fertility drugs and IVIG's... so not just EN - but that will be the bulk of work.
Thanks for your help, it's appreciated! - I have emailed a few companies including Cegedim Rx and AAH (this is what our retail pharmacy will be using).

Think of anything else... let me know.

Final comments.
No matter what supplier you choose - its better to get the complete package from them. If you choose software only you can end up with an issue that no-one will own - you know the sort of thing - your hardware supplier says its a software problem and your software supplier says its a hardware problem Meanwhile your pharmacy staff get frustrated because it doesn't work properly. Even if you have a someone who is a whiz at getting things working etc, don't forget they do go on holiday, maternity/paternity leave etc etc at some point and might not be available when the sh*t hits the fan as per murphy's law. The system suppliers have someone that tests kit compatibility and runs liaison with the manufacturers/official UK distributors etc. The guy at PC-World might get stuck.
Cegedim will send you a CD that you can install and see what their software looks like if you ask!
PS-EPSR2 should be able to cope with prescriptions for "mixed flavours" so I've heard, which should help with your enteral feed supply activity.
Over to you to continue your research - have fun.

Generally ETP seems to have been a non starter. all scripts have a bar code but not used. My own smartcard is 'locked' out of the system because I forgot the password after over 15 months of non use.

Linkscripts II got me locked out.
It asks for a 'passcode' - which is not your password as I thought it was.
Three attempts and you are locked out, with a trip to the PCT HQ at your own expense to get it sorted out.

Thanks for the info about the CD. I'll be following that up ASAP.
I totally agree with you about getting the complete package and so does my manager - for exactly the same reason. But we both very much doubt out Netcare department will allow us to do that. I think we may have to propose the idea to them and see what they say... lets jst hope!
No problem! Just get your head of IT to write a memo stating that he takes full responsibility for any problems. Otherwise when the proverbial hits the fan, suddenly you will be all alone taking the blame as it is you wanting to implement.
I was once 'phoned by the MD asking me not to go to Africa as local staff too
busy. I could see no problem as always organised my own trips anyway.
However, I deferred to his authority. Only to be accused of not visiting the market by our Swiss overlords who promptly pinched whole of African market from the UK division.
