  • Popping out tablets

Recently had patient who wanted ALL tablets popping into bottles.... a total of 592. Is this beyond the 'reasonable adjustment' the DDA talks about? I'm just worried my technician will sue for repetitive stress injury!!!

We've already tried the 'Poppit' machine from NPA, a waste of time!!

Once worked in a place that looked after three BIG nursing homes. There was a second dispensary in the basement, completely fitted and stocked. They popped tablets down there all day, every day.

So did I..the owner "checked" the trays..What did he do?..take all the tablets out of each compartment, count them, check each one against the stock container, and replace them?...I very much doubt it!

We're talking about 300 trays per week here!...madness.

In my life I came across several places like this. I once asked the technician in one of them how she could stand it. She said she'd worked there several years and enjoyed the work.

Why should she lie? Could be telling the truth. But!!!!!

                  Re: Popping out tablets

There are people who are content to do the same thing day after day. Me I want to try something new every five minutes. Had great day today in a city centre pharmacy where majority of 'customers' are needle exchange. Saw a finger slashed to the bone, a family with worms and a woman worried sick over what this additive 'povidone' in kemadrin might be doing to her son.

Have you tried ringing the RPSGB with a query and been satisfied with the result? (Off-topic I know, I'm just interested.)

It depends on what the query was, usually yes but anything to do with prescribing or controlled drugs I get referred to the Home Office and get bogged down in their telephone network.

Hm, isn't popping out tablets and repacking legally manufacturing?

Depends, I think, as to whether the packaging is part of the licence.

The article on stability in MDS in the PJ looked good, until we tried to apply it in practice.
