  • DDs vs Pharmacy

Pt came in and asked for his script. Could not immediately find so checked on PMR, no record. At that point another assistant returned from shop next door and said 'Its there, local Drs had dispensed and we collected it as they are not open on Saturday'.

What a good idea! We can now act as reception delivery points for DDs when they are closed. Would they do the same for us?

This just illustrates what a farce the dispensing doctor arrangements are in large areas of the country. Dispensing doctors should only be in remote areas and not in market towns which used to be rural areas.

I'd hope so - we are meant to be working together for the benefit of the patients.

A post office act as a reception/delivery point for a pharmacy I work at.
Would the pharmacy contractor welcome another pharmacy opening next door to the post office?
