  • Drug queries on weekends

MI closed. No 'phone a friend'. Surgery closed. Where would you go?

On-call pharmacist at nearby hospital? As a general hospital on-call I was once asked (this was late 90's) what was the Neo-natal dose of Gancyclovir for a baby born with Aids. Had no idea, so rang Gt Ormond St.

Really depends on the query - there are a lot of sources out there that are freely available without charge: BNF (treatment summaries are great), NICE guidelines, eMC for product-specific information, SPS Q&As for very random yet surprisingly frequent clinical questions. What sort of information would you be looking for? Also let's face it, most things can wait 2 days until the weekend is over!

That's very true, specialist hospitals may have data or guidelines of their own and they may be able to give you information at the drop of a hat!
