  • First time pharmacy buyer

Hi everyone! Newbie to pharmacy ownership although I have been a pharmacist for almost 20 years! I’m buying the pharmacy I work in and would welcome any advice on wholesalers and if it is worth doing a deal and using their software for PMR? Anyone any experience of Careways via AAH and ProScript Connect???

For the PMR it depends on what you have got now.
If you move PMR you might find it difficult to get a live dataset transferred.
Particularly if you do MDS etc.

Best wishes and success in your "new" pharmacy.

Would that be Columbus or the Cedgedim one - Nexphase?

Could be tricky getting data across from Columbus.

Worth asking your potential new supplier.

Look for a supplier that has all the links to the whizzy things like the the collection lockers and patient apps.
Anything that encourages patients to organise themselves.
Also if you would get a robot and/or an MDS packaging automation in time?

            Looks like non UK software.
These days for a pharmacy in UK (at least Scot/Eng) has to have connectivity.
I think in Wales too for electronic claims or something.

It is now a polarised market with little chance of a new player coming on the scene without a lot of startup funding.
I've heard of Invatech out of Bristol are giving it a go with a "Next Gen" system but not sure of their market penetration.

I’m looking at ProScript or Rx Web. Yes the suggested comparison site are for US systems. Got a demo today for ProScript.

Proscript is owned by EMIS who also manage the vast majority of GP systems. From a connectivity perspective I reckon there are potential benefits with that.
