  • I passed the mur

    Hi everybody,

Just wanted to share my good news as I managed to pass the MUR!!!

Some tips to go through the exams: good pharmacological knowledge especially for the first section and an on-line BNF (phone or tablet), go through the posts on this forum, as quite a few questions were discussed here, and finally for the last section read the cases presented on the MUR- an online resource for pharmacists site.

My section 4 case was a 60+ old retired gentleman who agreed to have an MUR.

    PMR:

    Bendroflumethiazide 2.5mg OD
    Atenolol 50mg tabs OD
    Ramipril 5mg caps OD
    Simvastatin 40mg tabs OD

    OTC:

Co-codamol effervescent for lumbago, and when is in bad pain he takes that four to six a day ( during the day) and two at night.

    He admits that :

-not taking the bendroflumethiazide when going out with friends
-sometimes forgets to take atenolol and ramipril in the morning
-emphasizes about the importance of taking simvastatin in the morning to protect his heart

    My answers were:

    - Bendroflumethiazide 2.5mg compliance issue as not taking it OM
    - Atenolol & Ramipril no issue
    - Simvastatin no issue but counsel ON
    - Co-codamol effervescent dose ok, but better take tabs, not soluble!

No action taken to GP, annual MUR initiated by pharmacist.

Good luck or Break a leg!!! ))) ))))
