First locum shift...and it's in boots new years eve!!! Helppppp plzzzz

Hi guys...newly qualified and my first ever locum shift gona be in boots on new yrs eve in boots...not a very busy store though...kind of stressed and panicking now...wat do u think guys?!?! They do abt 250 items a day...no addicts...and have a dispenser..any tips?!?? Helppp plzzzz

Don't panic, just find out locally which pharmacies are open on New Years Day in case there is anything that you cannot sort out. The NHS choices website would be where I would look. Also go to the store the day before so you know what to expect.

Likely problems will be those who have forgotten their insulin and expect a loan of a Lantis or other. 'I don't pay and will ask the Dr to send you a script'. Will be the refrain. Even if they are wiling to pay, they will want just one syringe and expect you to watch the other four go out of date.
Then there may be the addict who forgot/broke/lost his methadone, and those for whom the Dr has forgotten it will be New Year.

Do you have the phone number of a more experienced pharmacist you respect and trust and who is willing to help you? Possibly your tutor or anyone else you've worked with etc? That way if you get stuck you'll have someone to talk to for advice. Also, don't forget the RPS operate their Ethical and Legal advice line (or whatever its called) if you're a member or associate, although I'm not sure if they're open on New Years Eve.

I've also done Boots for new year's eve, and it was DEAD!
