    Indemnity insurance

I am newly qualified pharmacist, I applied for an agency to get a locum, they said I have to have indemnity insurance, when looked it up I found the NPA one is for £125.
Is this the right price, can I get cheaper one. From another point, as far as I understand the pharmacist is normally covered by the pharmacy indemnity insurance, why they are asking me to get one.
    Thanks

You would only be covered by the pharmacies own insurance if you were a contracted employee of that company and even then if an error were to occur and they could prove you were not following their SOPs you may not be covered at all if that makes sense. Try the PDA I'm not sure what they charge for locums but a large proportion of hospital pharmacists use them.

You are, in theory, covered by the contractor's insurance. But if you feel an error was, at root, their fault (excessive workload, understaffing, poor conditions, etc) and they think it was yours (a reasonable position for them to try), which of you do you think the legal team provided by their insurance will be supporting?

Don't step foot in a pharmacy without being in the PDA.

Just checked on PDA website and I was wrong earlier. They will extend your free pre-reg cover from 31st July to 31st October, also free, if you are a newly qualified.

PDA, it's 99 quid for a part time locum pharmacist (working less than 520 hours a ---YEAR---).
