I was wondering whether anyone can provide me with answers to a question that has been troubling me for a while.
With regards to home delivery service of prescriptions, is it a legal requirement to obtain patient's signature on delivery, i.e no signature, no delivery?
Also what if the patient has requested for their medicine to be put through the letter box? In such circumstances, is it better to request a written consent from the patient?
If you locum for such pharmacy, can u say that I am the responsible pharmacist and ask for patient's signature on delivery i.e ask the delivery driver not to deliver prescriptions unless a signature is obtained? And would be appropriate to contact the patient on the day of the delivery or earlier to let them know that their signature is required on delivery of their meds, if they are used to getting their Rx through the letter box for example!!
