    Job satisfaction

Hello. I have been qualified a couple of years now but I already feel dissatisfied with my job. The constant checking prescriptions is getting me down. I studied hard for my degree, but much of what I learnt I don't have to use. Plus there are so many rules and regulations I find it hard to relax for fear of making a mistake. I realise the pay is OK but I dont want to get to 60 and look back and think I've wasted my time. With a pharmacy degree I probably would have limited options. Does anyone else feel the same?

Many posts in this forum on alternative careers, pharmacy took me all over the world and there was always a job available when I wanted one.

    Drop Rx systems a line.
They might need more staff if they are looking after LINK customers?

There are other IT jobs if you are tech savvy.
First Data Bank, Essex often advertise for pharmacists, just don't expect busy community salaries.

The GP system suppliers employ pharmacists too...

Why don't you get out of retail like i did?
I work for a company that supplies pharmacy services to Nursing and Care Homes which after having spent nearly 20yrs in retail is a nice change from the stresses of shop life.
You could work for industry in drug information, drug safety etc.
You could do a PhD or become a lecturer.
There are many choices and you don't have to stay in retail!

Join the club mate. Busy community Pharmacies are an unadulterated nightmare to be honest, anybody who says they like working in these sweat shops are clearly telling lies or they're just insane. I'm considering Hospital or another career entirely at this stage.

Today is my last day in PCT as a locum - its the first job I've really enjoyed. Back to community locums in Liverpool / Wirral I guess.

    Have a great new year!
