Considered moving south of the invisible border at one stage last year, but gave up on that notion because of the way things were going. Would definitely go back at some stage if things picked up again - People are away more laid back and a lot friendlier! Must be just an innate Irish trait.
I wish I could advise you to come back but I do think it will be a few years before things pick up again but I'm sure they will. I'm just afraid that by then things will have gone so far down the road of copying the UK that you won't be able to tell the difference.

I understand how hard it can be to motivate yourself, especially when you are young and idealistic. It gets easier as you get older and more cynical

Keep your focus on the patient. Most of them do appreciate your efforts but we all dwell on the minority who moan and get us down. Try to remember that most of them are ill, or are caring for someone who is ill, and even the sight of a young healthy person can make them angry, not at you but at their own misfortune.

Put people before profit and you actually end up with more profit but so few realise that.

I agree, but it also depends vastly in the areas you may be working in.

If customers tut or sigh, I let them know that I'm rather quite busy in the dispensary and that they must or otherwise go elsewhere.

If a patient is persistant on buying a particular brand I make it very clear that I need to go through a series of questions to make sure that it is suitable for them even though they have had it before and even if they have had it on prescription from the Doctor.

Don't let people bully you...you are their to provide a professional service so be firm and professional in your approach and if customer/patients don't like it then thats tough.
