    Locuming indemnity insurance

    Hi,

I work for Boots and want to locum on some of my days off. I'm currently covered by Boots Pharmacist's Association indemnity insurance. I was wondering if anyone knows if BPA indemnity insurance covers you if you locum in non-boots stores, or do I have to go n get new indemnity insurance?!?!

    Cheers,

    Pharmageek!

I very much doubt it. Ring the underwriters 'on behalf of your friend'..may get you some answers. One tip..do NOT quote your policy number when asked.

each store should have got its own indemnity insurance, is a requirement, but check when you arrived and make sure it is still valid

some say employer's indemnity insurance with the NPA is enough
some say you better off to get one for yourself from the PDA
some say the outcome (if any) of a dispute would be different depends on which one you took

Is the BPA insurance a personal policy then or just something Boots provide automatically? Are you sure your contract with Boots doesn't have some draconian clause to prevent you locuming elsewhere?

    Forget that.
Join the PDA and put it through as expense on your tax form.
Don't set foot in a dispensary without it.
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
    What do you want?;..................
