    Question Co-op pharmacy Scottish Highlands

I wonder, if You can help me. Co-op Pharmacy is advertising locum vacancies in Highlands as block bookings with accomodation. Has any of You, guys, done that with them?? What is your general opinion about Co-op?? I know they've been advertising that job for quite a while. Is it really that horrible to work for them?? Trying to start as a locum soon. A bit scared now...

    Hi Luca,
I am a locum pharmacist in the Highlands and working for the aforsaid company is not that bad, just be sure to negotiate the best deal for you. Thay have at least two branches without managers, hence the block booking. This appears to be a long term issue, not sure why as its a lovely part of the world to work in. However one of branches in question can be demanding and badly needs managed.
Off all the multiples it is not the worst.

In Your oppinion, what does 'demanding branch' mean?? Do they at least have retail managers in those branches? I don't really want to be responsible for the sales plans and similar things. And... I know that is a silly question, what is the Highlands reality for hourly rate??

I had a very nice three weeks in the IOW a few years ago. I would regard time in the highlands as a working holiday.

Don't get me wrong, the branch needs a pharmacy manager in my opinion, and not run on locums, full on dispensing volume with 30+ methadones. Support staff are good however. You won't be expected to be accountable for sales plans etc.
Given the situation with accomodation offered, I think you could name your price, however going rate is at least £23\hr
The other branch is a lot quieter and could certainly be described as a working holiday.
Its a great part of the world.

Could You please name those two branches? So I know what I'm talking about with their coordinator. Many thanks for Your help. Appreciate that!! Am I right that IOW is Isle of Wight and that's deffinately not Scotland, isn't it? :-)
