Hello, i'm new to the forum and it's really interesting to read from people. It's so amazing how people selflessly help others with suggestions. Thanks to everyone that shares.
I have just started locuming about two months ago, i have joined most agencies, but this is probably a bad time to start locuming, because i haven't been able to book anything. Most of them are about 60miles away from me. Now i'm looking for a permanent job, i'm so broke, i don't know what to do. I live in London, any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Do you think i should persevere, would it get any better?
I think it's fairly clear from other threads that not only are potential locum positions extremely limited everywhere at present, they are sometimes impossible to secure. If, as you say yourself, you have spent two fruitless months seeking employment in London, then you must move on. You have no choice. Welcome to the glorious world of pharmacy.
Well if you can drive and have a car and a driving license of course...you should try and secure block bookings in various parts of the country.
I travel up to 100-200 miles a day, I try not to travel as much but when there isn't work available more local to you, you have to travel out a bit.
I suppose the best thing to do is try and secure block bookings if the work is quite far away from home and find out whether accommodation will be provided. That way at least you're not travelling 100 miles a day or more.
Personally I look for work close to home and then fruther a field.
Most agencies should be able to get you work around the London area...well you could also secure work around peterborough and surrounding areas as there seems to be enough work around the Cambridge area, correct me if I'm wrong.
Good luck in whatever you do, but if you need more advice don't hesitate to PM me.
Often meet locums in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk who have driven from Wembley or Birmingham. Me, I would drive down night before and stay overnight. Was stat com case where locum had driven long way and made an error. Much play made of this at the time. Use tripadvisor to find local B&Bs or ask local staff when making booking.
some multiples will pay B&B costs.

Thank you so much for your advise and suggestions, i think i would do block bookings, since i can drive. Infact i saw Cambridge (about 59miles from me), i would try this first for one day and see how it goes. I would probably try harder for two months and if it's not going well, i would go back to full time job. Thank you all
If anyone is struggling to secure bookings PLEASE call me. We are always looking for Locums, the rates can be a little less because many clients are used to paying Locums directly but on the whole we pay a competitive rate. We can offer Permanent placements aswell as longterm, shorterm and emergency Locum bookings....
I can't put a link in here to our site so priv message me if you are struggling.
Why do you take a nice secure and well paid job until the locum seen starts to improve and then any additional bookins you do get use as extra income? To many people locum but if you do a reputation needs to be built up gradually
If your looking for a permanant position and are willing to travel to Surrey then contact me and i might be able to help even if your only looking to work one or two days a week
