    Locum Pharmacy in Scotland

I am a locum pharmacist from Northern Ireland and due to lack of work over here, am thinking of going to Scotland to find locum work... Does anyone know which cities are short of pharmacists and what is average rate of pay? Is it easy to get work. Also, how much does it cost to register in Scotland and does this also entitle you to work in England and Wales, Thanks!

If you are really keen (!) Lloyds are having a recruitment day in Belfast for GB work on the 14/15 Aug. However..they are not the only option, if you are free to move that is.

You need to contact RPSGB in London, which covers Scotland/Wales and England, and also Isle of Man and Channel Isles. PSNI will send a letter of good standing and you need a solicitor to verify your identity, then you pay them.

PS. I wouldn't think about working in Eire at the minute--work as scarce as in NI, plus emergency tax at roughly 50% at source.

I worked in Wales for 10 years--it was great. Now I'm doing the odd day in NI/RofI and contemplating what life on benefits would be like..

PM me if you want any more info.

PS. Wales was about 22-25/hr a few years ago. I think it may be similar now. Scotland is usually a bit less than England/Wales--not sure why.

at 45 you are saying that? what would you say when you are 60
i moved into a shared house in lincolnshire, one tenant was made redundent and lost his 50K job last month. now on benefits, he suffers from depression and on anti-deps. just look after yourself! it's hard for someone to accept the new reality of being on benefits when few months ago the salary was great.

I notice that "team locum" are advertising stayaways in Scotland: complete weeks with e.g. Boots with accomodation and some expenses provided.

Some of the most popular destinations are with various Boots stores in Scotland.

We have been informed that there will be a large area meeting on 19th August, and after this there will be a great many stayaways available in Scotland, right through into mid-2010.
If you take advantage of this, please mention Elaine Hutton and the forum, as they will give an introduction fee to anyone referring a new locum (as I recall, subject to the various terms and conditions), and the changes that are happenning to the forum must be costing her a bomb (no new smileys yet, though, Elaine!).

Coupled with Ryanairs £1 return flight sale (that's £1 plus extras, like an inside seat) I can see some of our Irish friends thinking about it, while time is hanging heavy....
    ....just my opinion
