    Minimum number of working hours?

    1. Are there any regulations that would oblige a pharmacist to work for a specified number of hours over a period of time, e.g. for 30 hours a week? Are there any plans to introduce such a requirement?

In other words, can a locum work just 3 days a week and maintain his registration with RPSGB?

    2. How long can one stay out of work so that he could still be eligible to work as a pharmacist after such a break?

For ever, provided he maintains his registration with the Rpsgb/GPhC. The only continuing requirement at present is that we do a certain amount of CPD, currently around 30 hours of it a year.
    ....just my opinion

If you worked just one hour a year, full registration and CPD requirement still applies.

No regulations about minimum work to keep up registration.
If this was in place not sure how it would work?
Could you be removed from the register if you were unable to work for some reason?
The CPD requirement does apply though, as pointed out by another respondent.

Our attention is on maximum hours, length of shifts along with numbers and quality of supporting staff at the moment. Staff lost through 'natural wastage' are being replaced very slowly at the moment due to the 'downturn', however the script numbers and other duties increase daily.
