    Locuming work in London?!?

    Good morning All

I was wondering if you can help me. I am self employed Locum worker and currently working in Manchester. I am thinking of moving down to London and wanted to know what the Locum work was like in London, what the charge rates are and if there is much locum work in london?

Please help me as i am not sure where to start etc?

Are there certain companies i should go to to offer my services who are looking for locumists?

Your help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Z.

there isn't a massive ammount of locum work in london - so many pharmacists available that most companies dont have any requirements.

Unless you want to do hospital - but not sure what the rates are there.. why dont you live in london and commute to other locations for locum, the public transport isn't too bad.. you can make it down to sussex in about an hour.. as far as companies - i think independents will probably pay you more and you might get a regular "gig" out of them. Good luck

The answer is reflected in your name. Pharmacy is extremely popular in the Asian community and therefore high concentrations of pharmacists where high concentration of asian origin population, London, Birmingham and Leicester being the obvious ones.

100 years ago, the Jewish community provided many pharmacists (due to immigration in late 1800s) and therefore high concentration of jewish pharmacists in Nth London and Manchester.

Expect to have a high concentration of E European origin pharmacists in 20 or so years time.

I have to say I agree with you.. the only place there is a real need for pharmacists is the south west.. not bad salaries either, i'd say it is a dream in this weather.. dont know what it would be like in the winter tho..

Lots of vacancies in NW, merseyside, lancashire, central manchester. Mainly due to growth of 100 hour pharmacies, IMHO. Its quite funny that the multiples who are of course behind the drive to keep the 100 hour exception don't seem to have cottoned on to the fact that they are driving their own wages bill up by reducing the locum pool.

I can't face the A580 or the M60/M61 junction, so I won't touch any of them. But they come from somewhere, and I go there.
    ....just my opinion
