Is there a problem with getting techs/locums in glasgow? a bit strange! i've been told the rates are low in scotland compared to england.
Do you work for an agency or what?
There is a shortage of pharmacists in the glasgow region, and yes as a rule rates are lower than england, but when you find a shortage you negotiate a higher rate to attract people from further afield. I dont pay pharmacists under £25, whats the point, if they will work for less they can work on bank!
Hey Jay..
Although I can't help you out this time round, the times they are a'changin! May well be back from Ireland doing locums in the Scottish central belt within the year...I was born in Glasgow, and speak fluent Weejie natno biriway.
Stay in touch with the forum.
Fleeg.
Electricians, plumbers get more than 35 pounds per hour.
Urban myth. Pay a tradesman what you think he is worth, and not a penny more. Do not be intimidated by them...they're not as tough as they like to make you believe. If they even try to mention a discount against VAT, show them the door.
Fleeg.

A plumber's error will not kill anyone, meanwhile a single serious error one of us make could kill someone and result in jail.
A music teacher (piano, guitar>..)will not accept less than 25 per hour. No risk is involved whatsoever.
We train a lot too.
Really? So they can't blow the whole street up if the gas leak is big enough then. That Corgi registration stuff must be all rubbish I guess. I think I'll connect my own gas fire next time.
Ah that's what we get paid for - we're the fall guys.
No risk, but quite a lot of talent I think.
We do, too. As well as others, that's true. BUT my point is that trying to put other people down and belittle their skills does us no good whatsoever. It's other people who see themselves as being above us that does us no good, so why should we do it to other people?
I am not attacking you, I am honestly not, but this attitude of "I look up to him, and down on him" hierarchical way of looking at others needs to stop to get pharmacy to progress in any way, IMHO.
I still stand by this statement: -
My husband is a builder by trade and I know the person with the most useful skills in our house isn't me !

I am not looking down at anyone. In my opinion everyone is important and has a valuable role to play in the society whatever job he/she does. The reason I mentioned these professions, not because they are higher or lower, but because I am having works done to my house and teachers teaching my children and I am paying them as much or higher than what I would get when I do locums.
I am only not happy when pharmacists consider £ 25/hour (locum fee) such a big amount whereas other non pharmacists get the same or more doing less stressful, risky jobs than pharmacists.
I thought a plumber is different to the corgi gas engineer. A corgi engineer will not accept less than £50/hour.
(My dad is a handyman and I have all the love and respect for him.)
Your husband is a very lucky man to have a loving wife like you.
