Nvq3 please can anyone help

Hi all, im currently doing my nvq3 and im finding a particular question really hard. Q) A ten year old boy takes Beclometasone 100mcg 5puffs bd
Serevent inhaler 2puffs bd
Ventolin 200mcg prn
The question is asking me to check the british thoracic society guideline to determine which treatment step the child is at, and for love more money i just cant work it out !! I f anyone can point me in the right direction id be so grateful, thank you

Serevent (salmeterol) is a long acting beta agonist, therefore they would not be at step 1 or 2. Step 3 mentions using high dose steroids together with SABA and LABA if benefit.

The BNF has the treatment guidelines in steps. Have you looked in there.

The child has a short acting b-agonist, long acting b-agonist and an inhaled steroid so that should be a good clue for you

Thanks guys, just looked in bnf, im thinking step 3 as from step 4 onwards tablets are added?

Step 4 is when you have tried the three strategies and then add in something like montelukast or theophylline.

We have a lot of problems with people not giving us the background or saying cannot find something on google. Ask the wrong question, you will get the wrong answer.
