    Access to Science

    Hi everyone

Just a quick question to gain some insight, if possible, please.

I am a mature student with 2 children and have recently started the Access Science Diploma, as I don't have the required A-levels for the MPharm.

Unfortunately, I also have to resit my Maths GCSE, as I got a D at school. Do you think this will be a disadvantage when applying for university in the coming weeks? Pharmacy has always been an area that I have been interested in and I really don't want to miss out for 2012

    Many thanks

    Clare

    Re: Access to Science

You'll need to check with individual universities whether they'll accept a Access Science Diploma and a D in Maths for entry before you start applying, although providing you get at least a C at GCSE when you re-sit I doubt that'd be a problem.
I've never heard of an Access Science Diploma so don't know how acceptable it is

    Re: Access to Science

Thanks for your reply. It is the Access to Science course. Have checked with John Moores University and they do accept this. It is the Maths GCSE that has me worried. Hopefully I will get a C when I resit in June next year.

    Thanks

    Re: Access to Science

I would think that you'd need to be at GCSE C standard in Maths to handle the maths in the MPharm degree, but if you pass the Access to Science then you're smart enough to get a C in Maths!
Best of luck with it all anyway
