    Advice please

    Hi;

    I was working for Independent Pharmacy,2 months ago my boss sold his business,but he still got warehouse.He is also the Pharmacist.
    Anyway,so i start new job,which i don`t really enjoy.
    So my previous boss offer me job,but in the warehouse( he selling medicine online).My question is if i can still carry on NPA COURSE,i just finish LEVEL2,and want
    to start LEVEL3.Can i still carry on with the course working for him in the warehouse?And he still will be my Supervisor Pharmacist.?
    Is this possible not working in the pharmacy but i will have Supervisor Pharmacist and doing NPA COURSE?or maybe Buttercups?

    Hi Caroline
    I think it may depend on whether you are going to register at the end of it, because if you are you have to have a minimum of two years relevant work-based experience in the UK under the supervision, direction or guidance of a pharmacist for no less than 14 hours per week. Info about this in on the General Pharmaceutical Council website. xx

    Hi Caroline

    The advice given to you by 'greenmonkey' is accurate. If you wish to undertake a Pharmacy Technician course and then register yourself as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC on completion, then you must be working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist for a minimum of 14 hours per week in an appropriate workplace setting throughout the two year duration of the course, e.g. a dispensary in a community or hospital pharmacy.

    The official GPhC guidance is as follows: Pharmacy technician - General Pharmaceutical Council

    At this time Buttercups could offer you the opportunity to join the CPD Academy for Dispensing Assistants. This would allow you to study unaccredited versions of all of the knowledge modules from the Level 3 course. If you then began working in the dispensary of a community or hospital pharmacy, we could accredit any of the knowledge modules that were fully completed if you decided to enrol onto a full Level 3 Pharmacy Technician course, as long as this took place within three years of completion of the original modules.

    By taking this route you would still need to complete your evidence portfolio once the relevant workplace setting is available to you. You would also still need to acquire the relevant work experience before you were able to apply for registration as a Pharmacy Technician. It is an option, though, should you wish to continue studying whilst in your current job role.
