Not got a summer placement now for first year or second year, worried?

Hi

I'm a second year student at Manchester, applied for all summer placements last yr and this yr and all rejections. Worried now that will I even get one for the 3rd yr. Is this common, will companies give more of a chance to 3rd years?

Dont worry about it. Everyone i knew at university got a prereg place. some of my friends were lazy and didnt even do the summer placements in any of the years. I hate interviews, so i only applied to the companies that did the online process. I rushed the application and did it last minute on each occasssion, but somehow got the place. which places did you apply?

Hi thanks for that. Well I applied to all the big ones and a few indpdnt ones but rejected from all, same thing happened last year. I feel better after your post was beginning to panic as I haven't had anything for the 1st or 2nd year.

I'm a second year aswell. Don't worry, a lot of people won't have summer placements for 1st & 2nd year if you live in a big city (Birmingham for me) and an area saturated by schools of pharmacy. They tend to prioritise 3rd years cos they're more likely to apply for pre-reg the next year so they have an idea of who they are. I work for a national-multiple part-time and they STILL rejected me a summer placement in my own branch because of saturation. Hopefully we'll get luckier next year
