Hi guys,
I was wandering if there's an official process of applying for pharmacy summer vacation placements in the south west? I know west midlands has pharmalife and the south east has summed.. But i haven't been able to find anything for places like Bath, Bristol, bournemouth.. also for Wales?
Will it just be a case of ringing up the hospital?

I think South Central also have their own scheme - covers areas like reading, oxford

There isn't a central system for summer placements in the South West - you would need to contact each hospital individually. I don't know about Wales.

Starcandle, do you know how many places go on offer at NBT (North Bristol NHS Trust) roughly?

Best to check the NHS hospital pre-reg guide. Sent free to all uni's around March/April of 3rd year. Alternatively available through Pharmalife -

Well I'm doing my second year placement with Boots this summer, so yes I'm looking to do a third year placement next year in hospital and possibly pre-reg if I like it (and am lucky enough to get a place). One of the pharmacists at my store said he did a hospital pre-reg and really enjoyed it. I think I might be bored of community pharmacy already! I shall contact them directly then.
