How about a real life scenario to think about...
You get a phone call.
The day is saturday, time around 1130.
Patients son (5 years) has seen NHS dentist and has been given amoxicillin 125mg/5ml TDS PO.
Patient has been treated for a day, then bottle of antibiotic liquid is dropped while opening bottle.
Result is that there is only about 30ml left in the bottom of the bottle.
The patient is on the phone having just had this happen.

What are your options to help the patient continue the treatment?

couldn't you just do an emergency supply, and ask them to bring in the bottle as proof??

true..i see your point..so would you make them pay a prescription charge or the private price....i guess the other option is to try and get another script off the dentist retrospectively, providing they are willing to do that..

i guess they ahve 2/7 supply left so could always go back to the dentist themselves and get a new script...that way no need to pester a pharmacist

But they couldn't pester a dentist. Don't you know dentists are busy people?
