Hi, I'm new to this, so bare with me please. i'm really stuck on a question it's unit 5 module 7. The question is 'explain the homeostasis of glucose levels in the bloodstream, with reference to cortisol, gulagon and insulin and how they effect the control'
i understand that, cortisol releases stored glucose, insulin is released when glucose is raised and glucagon is released when glucose dips.
The problem I'm having is explaining it or even finding information to help me. any help with this would be greatly appreciated, at the moment I feel really stupid that i can't fathom it out.
Thankyou in advance Jo
I think you've answered your own question there. All you need to do is add in the fancy terms, and stretch it out over a paragraph or two. Sugar Homeostasis - Biology Online Blood Sugar Regulation (Homeostasis) Glucose Homeostasis and Diabetes | Pharmainfo.net
Those three websites between them have a good explanation of glucose homeostasis. I particularly like the diagram in the first link. Perhaps you could draw one of your own to help explain the answer, and refer to it in your explanation?
If you're looking for books then I'd suggest the Open University's 'Living with Diabetes'. It's from the course SK120 Diabetes Care. It has quite a lot of information in it.
