i have been trying like crazy to get a job in a pharmacy, even if it is for a day. BUT have been hopelessly unsuccessful, how do i go about securely getting any pharmacy job?
Go to classified directory and write/call on every pharmacy within travelling distance. The ethnic make up of most London pharmacies means that they tend to employ family members first. If you are willing to work unsocial hours, ie Evenings, Saturdays/Sundays and Bank Holidays, then this betters your chances. Try all the 100 hour pharmacies for these hours.

Following on from Johneps advice above, find out the Head Office of Lloyds/Boots/Co-op etc nearest to your area, send a good CV and covering letter and what they tend to do is send your CV to the stores that need support staff which is usually most of them (especially Lloyds) and the manager from the store will give you a call. I've managed to get a couple of jobs using this technique and we have taken on two members of staff in our store this way. It also saves on printing/travel/postal costs.....just one way of doing a CV drop...
I live in a part of London where there are more independents than there are multiples. To get a job as a pharmacy assistant, I offered to work voluntarily for a while, I think about 4 weeks can't remember the hours now. One of the dispensers went on holiday so then I kind of filled in and started getting paid. For independents it is probably best that you see them directly. Also make sure to start applying early. So if you want a summer job you need to start applying well before like January. These days you would probably need previous work experience. I had no work experience whatsoever hence I felt the need to offer to work voluntarily. Hope this helps.
