No summer placement- pre-reg?

I'm currently in my 3rd year of studying pharmacy in Scotland, and i've not applied for a 3rd year summer placement. I already work in an independent pharmacy and will be continuing to work there throughout the year and over next summer, so i didn't think it was necessary for me to do a placement.
I'd ideally like to work in community pharmacy, and people in my year have been telling me i'm mad not doing one, and that i won't get a pre-reg place otherwise.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much truth there is in this? Would also be good to hear if anyone was in the same situation as me, as i seem to be the only 3rd year i know not doing a placement?

Hopefully you will do your pre reg where you are already working.

yeah i m in the same position.

basically...i got rejected for lloyds and boots this summer all i have left my hopes on now is co-operative and doesnt look very promising.
