Im currently doin my A2’s in my 2nd year at college (bio, chem n sport/PE). A year ago I hadn’t the slightest of thought I would choose pharmacy as a career option. It was all sports for me. I had ambitions to be a pe teacher but my college teacher advised me otherwise saying I was better than that. Hence I joined this forum to help me out of this confusion. Just a few questions:
1) i dropped maths for A2, will this reject me from good unis for the course? (got a B at AS)
2) is it easy to find a placement for the pre reg year? And will unis help to find this placement?
3) how hard is the registration exam? (I know my neighbour failed it but hes moved out so I cant get his say on things )
Just to let u know my grades look like this: AAB (the B in chem)
Pardon me for ranting on but im jus a tad confused (more than that actually!)
Re: pharmacy as possible career option? help please!
1. a B in maths at AS is great, the top unis won't reject you and it wil lactually be very good as calculations will crop up during the course.
2. It is very easy to find pre-reg places (at this moment), however new pharmacy schools have opened and hence by the time you graduate it could be more difficult. Not all unis help as such, it is more your responsibility.
3. The pre-reg exam won't be too hard as long as you put the work in.
If you maintain AAB for your A2 you have a great chance at top unis.
I agree with your teacher, with your grades and your subjects you can do more than become a teacher. Anymore questions, feel free to ask.
Re: pharmacy as possible career option? help please!
Proves what used to be said 'Those who can, can, those who can't, teach'.
I have always thought this was a bit unfair as I was fortunate to have a few inspirational teachers along the way. My chemistry teacher had to leave industry after he collapsed beside a leaking Sulphur Dioxide main pipe at Boake Roberts in Stratford East London.
