Hi.....I was wondering if any of you have found it difficult to enter a pharmacy course at university because of the way you look?
I say this because of my experiences. I have been weight training since the age of 15 (my father was a powerlifter and he introduced me to it) and I responded very quickly to it. By the time I was 18, I weighed 22 stone at a height of 5' 11'' and was huge (around 20% bodyfat).
whilst doing my A-level's, I decided to apply for Pharmacy as it was what I had always wanted to do. I recieved a few interviews and at each and everyone of them, I knew what they were thinking..."this guys taking so many injections, he must have buttocks like a teabag".
I ofcourse got no offers from any of them, dispite having gained ABB (not bad for a so-called juiced up meat head!!). I know these grades arent exceptional, but i was working every day after college as well and managed to get experience at a pharmacy owned by a family friend.
I dont mean to moan, but I really think that the admissions people at universities need to open their minds and not tar everyone with the same brush............im sure if I had turned up at the interviews weighing 8 stone, they would not suspected me of taking crack!!!!
Drugs are involved in all sports and at all levels...but this does not mean that everyone is taking them!!!...GENETICS can play a huge role!!!
Anyway....I applied last year to do a science foundation course, and achieved what I needed to gain entry to the Pharmacy course. But I am still upset, because I have stopped training for 2 years and now weigh 13 stone,
and am not sure that I would have been accepted, had I still been BIG.
Any thoughts on this would be most welcome.....and also any other stories from students with similar happenings to mine.
Thank's for your time.
