I am a 3rd year student who was lucky enough to conduct some academic research in my 2nd year summer hols. From that I have been published and hope to continue this work into my masters project.
The possibility of PHD has come into the equation.
Now of course I want to finish the degree, pre-reg (hosp) and become a pharmacist.
After that I am not sure.
May I ask if doing a Phd would be worth it, academia does interest me but I did pharmacy to become a pharmacist, not just a scientist.
I had the chance to do a Ph.D. in the early 60s, would have been work on micelles and may have led to liquid crystals. However, no grant available. I did toy with idea of doing evening locums but my wife wanted to buy a bungalow, so let the opportunity pass by. I had done an apprenticeship before uni so no probs with registration. You, however, are faced with little income. My nephew had a year in a company making CCD devices, basically making the lamps that replaced flames in photometers. Then went back and did the research. If you have no ties, then do pre reg and go back to uni.

She found it at an agent, builder was building a development and priced before he started, was custom in those days. Ours was last to be built and two years underpriced. Never see a fixed price list these days.
In joint names, but I paid the mortgage.
