    is a 2.2 bad?

hi im new to the forum, i was just wondering if a 2.2 degree is considerred bad by the general pharmacy population. im in my 4th year and most probably will get a 2.2 as to get a 2.1 ill have to get quite high on my finals and so im not gonna get my hopes up too much, best to be realistic. i have pre-reg sorted in a hospital which im happy about but do your collegues during pre-reg judge your intelligence on your degree class? because i have come across a really judgmental tutor in the past. im not saying im the cleverest person but its annoying when they come out with things like 'all mpharm students are so dumb nowadays' apart from that iv had some really nice pharmacists that iv worked with too and iv learned loads with them! whats your opinions on this? ok i know iv asked varied questions but id like to know what you guys feel as students. oh and has anyone else had bad experiences with condescending tutors/collegues?

Once you are on the register your degree grade doesn't seem to come into it any more - that is my experience anyway

When there is a suplus of pharmacists, then class of degree will be used as a filter mechanism. At the moment if you can walk and talk and have a certificate you will be employed.

And there won't be a surplus for a while yet, you have to be good at communication primarily.

oh good that makes me feel so much better. The thing is when i graduate there will be more students from the new pharmacy schools graduating with me so i guess there will be more competition in the future. last i knew there was still a shortage of pharamcists but i don't know if that still stands today, soon we too like doctors may become too many for the jobs availiable, when do you think that will happen?

I don't mean to soapbox on this one, but as I have said on other threads, the surplus depends on where you live and how able you are to travel. If there is no surplus in your area, then you are still lucky, good for you. I said that myself six months ago..then I moved house...

PJ published a workforce survey a few years back showing areas of shortage, one of which is East Anglia, one of the reasons I moved here. Have just read article on the credit crunch and Ireland. Made hay while the sun shone, now reaping a bitter harvest.
