The open book section of the exam is all about managing your time effectively. If you know the answer to a question, put it down and don't waste time looking it up. If you are 75% sure of the answer, put it down, and check later if you have enough time. How relevant this is to being a pharmacist is open to debate though.

Just happened to stumble across this thread. To the original poster. To be honest with you, there is really no need to flag the crap that everyone is telling you to flag. I had 4 flags in my BNF and that was it. The Index, Interactions, Pregnancy and Breasfeeding was all I did. Flag the "notes on charges" in the DT and the other important sections like "Black List", ACBS etc etc....just the important ones. Expect a MAX of 3 Qns from the DT in the Open Book paper if that. Wont bother going on about the MEP as she will need to know that inside out regardless, especially labelling, CDs etc. Wouldn't worry too much on CHIP regulations, Vets, Alcohol etc (although they are likely to be tested in the Open Book). You will notice you can answer loads of Qns from the Open Book without looking in your books (hence save a good 2-3 mins per Qn). I also sat the exam in June up John Moores. The exam was a breeze. Much much easier than any of the sample papers. Closed Book was so easy I did that in 30 mins and was sitting for the remainder clock watching. Open Book was easy and calculations were just as easy. I'd be surprised to get anything less than 95% in them. Results are due tomorrow and I know I have passed, it really was that easy! Dont worry about the Sept exam - she'll be OK. Off to bed now (and yes I will get to sleep because my name will be on the pass list!) K.Lidder |

I just opened my letter a few moments ago and ....I passed my exam . Good luck to the students who didn't pass this time, I am sure you will be fine next time.Although I thought that I was fine in the exam I couldn't help not worrying about my result. I haven't practise calculations and I didn't read any calc book despite having calc books (they are still new if someone needs them). I have done few mock tests which was part of our training courses (about 3 times) and the ones in past exam papers just before the exam (but I always loved maths and I was good at it). It is better to flag your books but I don't think you will use them as such in the exam. Get as much as possible past exam papers and pracise them please (the last 10 years would be sufficient, if you need any I have got some). Good luck to everyone. |

Well done! I hope you enjoy your new job; all the hard work was worth it and has paid off in the end - I think this system certainly prepares you for coping with future stress! |

| Erm, obviously you weren't/aren't a confident person are you? A P'cist must be confident at all times! I knew I passed coz the exam was a piece of p!$$, hence that's why my name is on the "pass list" just as I said it would be ![]() Too easy, I must have got a ton in each paper |
