Improving patient counseling

I'm a second year pharmacy student. Just wanted to know if theres any good resources for improving patient counselling, say for example its the first time a patient has had a certain medication.

Read the BNF for basic info, otherwise, first ascertain what exactly does the pt want to know. Rememember Kiplings five best friends: why,what, who, when and how.(or something like that)
