So why am I doing it? To bolster my CV? Yes, I suppose so, but also so that I can increase my clinical knowledge, keep in the habit of studying and to increase my chances of getting onto a prescribing course. You need two years post-reg experience before going on a prescribing course, so in a way I guess I'm looking for something to fill those two years. Oh, and I get to go back up to Birmingham on a couple of long weekends
    If it's CV bolstering you're after - there's a walk in centre in Brum - owned/attached to/next to Boots - I think.

Fay ... off to do a quick search for her last name - Fay Wilson member of the GMC - works there - and might (or migh not) be able to use a pharmacist.

Is that legal?Sounds like a blatant case of national discrimination to me! Surely you mean "Anyone who is not an EU citizen"?
I'm off on one of my hobby-horses again, by the way!

Ok fair enough. Do you really want to prescribe though? It would be a lot quicker to study as a nurse, and then you can prescribe anything. To be honest, nobody has ever wanted to see my CV, so I don't worry about it.

A bigger concern is that if you are working (and living) in another EU country you cannot vote for MEPs locally - or at home. (at least that used to be the case)

Thanks for the offer, but I'm not interested in moving back to Brum at the time being, it'll just be nice to go back to some places occassionally.

    I have!
I hold a german passport and also a belgian nationality (both birth-rights: belgian mother, german father); I don't have british citizenship, have been living & working here- and paying taxes!-since 1999, and I have registered to vote here and been able to vote at both local and european elections in Wales. But I wasn't given a vote in UK parliamentary electons, or Welsh Assembly ones, and have lost my vote in Belgium as I no longer reside there.

"No taxation without representation": Yeah right...

Yes it is definitely double standards here, I arrived in 2004 from NZ, on a work visa. I really enjoy earning money here and paying the taxes and NHS portion out of my wages as my passport visa is stamped "....no recourse on public funds" The government is happy for me to full a void in the workforce, and for me to pay taxes, but not to help me if something goes wrong!!
Gee whinging about something really does make your day brighter!! - anyone else been caught in a thunderstorm today??

Someone who used to be a radio operator wrote in to a newspaper say how bad it is getting, and they are the worst for abbreviating things especially in the days of morse code. INT QSL K
