Am i right in thinking that the hormone glugacon is involved in gluconeogenesis?
Yes - when blood sugar levels are low, the pancreas releases glucagon which also breaks down stored glycogen into glucose. Gluconeogenesis, i.e the production of "new" glucose is also under the control of glucagon.

Thats what i put nik,but theyve sent it back as wrong?? im now wondering should the answer be cortisol, the question originally was related to exercise and how your blood levels decrease, and how the body responds, then i was sent a resubmission question asking which hormone is involved in gluconeogenesis.......... i thought id answered that correctly and as youve just proved i had, soooooo confused !!
Ah well, I suspect there is the answer. Cortisol levels go up in times of stress, and cortisol being a glucocorticoid hormone helps to stimulate production of glucose. Glucagon is involved in gluconeogenesis, but I think it's more involved in breakdown of glycogen.
