Red alert from me also.
Make sure you keep records and declare your income.
If you don't HMRC will 'stick you' for other work they think you might have done, and put you under the tax microscope for the rest of your natural.
Only large corporations registered off-shore can take advantage.
You and I work until around 1200 every day to pay tax.
Where am I?; In the Pharmacy.
Who are you?; The new Number 2.
Who is number 1?; You are number 6.
What do you want?;..................
There are many discussions here about how much locums must keep to one side to pay their tax. I would supply the revenue with all details of payments made to locums and would expect a valid invoice from them to show to the revenue. If I didn't, as the employer I would be responsible for paying the tax and NI with no legal right to claim it back.
If your decision is based on take home pay you had better look at the full implications of your self employed status and there are many her who have posted threads explaining this in detail.
Yes you will have your freedom and less responsibility but you will have regular work, experience (should you wish to start your own enterprise) and to some, regular patient contact within a regular community has it's own job satisfaction. You are more likely to get to use your clinical skills in a regular environment. The job offered may be fantastic compared to some of the jobs talked about here but you will only find out when you take it. If it isn't for you then you can always try locum work.
