Accredited Courses

Hiya, can anyone help me here.

If I wanted to be able to deliver smoking cessation and substitute prescribing services in NI, I would have done NICPLDs courses on these and so would be accredited, but I cannot seem to figure out where I go for these sorts of courses in the rest of the UK.

Is there one place to get proper CPD courses accredited by the gphc?

On application forms I have been asked whether I am accredited to do these things and I don't want to sound like a numpty at the interview saying I can't figure out how!!

The local PCT will have it's own bespoke course and accreditation. Not all PCTs recognise accreditation from other areas so be careful. The GPhC currently doesn't recognise any accreditation other than independent/supplementary prescribing. That may change but not in the immediate future. The other obvious accreditation is MUR for which there are many alternative suppliers of accreditation.

Ah, I see. I think then that the definition used over here is more specific than in NI.

The national contract here is for England and Wales. Scotland has a very different contract so I have no doubt NI does also.

NICPLD work alongside the other UK educational bodies. I'm sure if you emailed or phoned them they could put you in touch with the relevent people.
