cd regulations
i had a nhs prescrtion for morphine sulphate 10mg ampoules x5 quantity and strength in words and figures but the direction stated to be use as directed by hospice the 2nd pharmacist said the script would have to go back as there was no dose is he correct.

yes- as directed is not acceptable on a CD script. however something like 3 as directed is

This is my current bug-bear.
Drs used to have to get everything right, and they usually managed to miss something necessary - maybe not dating it, forgetting words AND figures, not saying tabs or sachets on MST.
Now the computer does 95% of it for them, yet they still manage to mess up the ONE SINGLE THING they have to put in. CD scripts require a dosage (eg "one") and preferably a frequency (eg "daily"). We're not supposed to be guessing they mean "apply one patch" every three days.....
How hard can it be???
