Looking for a job through a recruitment agency

I am currently looking for a new job as a community pharmacist. Is it worth using a recruitment agency for this purpose? How does it work - does the agency take their cut from my salary or are they paid a separate fee for their services by the employer? Is the salary offered by the agency lower in comparison with personally negotiated salary?

Agency take booking fee from employer per booking.
I get less for working in a non-agency independant than through agency, but it's easier place to work sometimes

I presume you are talking about locum bookings and my question is about permanent placements. Anyone else got something to add?

yes. recruitment agencies are paid a fee by the recruiter looking to fill a position, not the applicant. this fee can be several thousand pounds but most recruitment agencies guarantee a higher caliber of applicant as a better pre-screening / headhunting approach is used.
The last two jobs i have worked at were via recruitment agencies approaching me, as opposed to me hunting through the journal ads.
