    Repeat Dispensing

I know that Repeat Dispensing is one of the essential services. However, should there be any formal agreement between the pharmacy and the surgery regarding this service? Can the pharmacy refuse to process a repeatable prescription because of lack of such an agreement?

Standard procedure is for the pt to sign a form authorising pharmacy to pick up scripts on pt's behalf.
Lloyds and others now get the pt to sign the white form and indicate repeats required for next month. This is then sent to surgery week before due.

I was rather asking about repeatable prescriptions, i.e. those with RA form (authorisation form) and RD scripts (batch prescriptions).

This pharmacy has never done it before and I wasn't sure if it requires some kind of an agreement with the surgery or not.

when i used to handle batch RA scripts (takeup by local surgeries is extremely poor in my current area - as is barcode scripts!) i used to fax a sheet to the gp surgery to let them know we were doing the batch scripts for the patient. can't remember if it was a requirement of the service or just good practice though. got to admit i'm a little rusty at repeat dispensing now! Time for some CPD!

It works in the surgery's favour and nothing for them to do for six months.
Wish we got a 'no dispensing fee' though.
