Supermarkets Pharmacy chains

Just want to know which of the supermarket pharmacy chains is the best place to wk in terms of salary, and working conditions as newly qualified pharmacist. Any ideas from those who have had work experience with any of them. i mean sainsburys, asda and tesco. thanks

I work for Asda and haven't got anything bad to say about them.

I've just finished a couple of placements for my physio degree and they have allowed me time off, even though one of the other dispensers who is a student teacher is also on placement as well. As there are only seven of us in the pharmacy it has meant a lot of shifting around of rotas and getting people to cover for us, but they have made no complaints.

As a result of their direct involvement in the Elizabeth Lee case, Tesco have become more concerned about breaks and shift lengths. Generally they split the day into 2 shifts and have a period of overlap when there are 2 pharmacists. It has its pros and cons. Branches I have worked in have lost regular locums because they are frustrated to be offerred short shifts with an hour of unpaid break (at an inconvenient time) and singlehanded working for at least a couple of hours during the shift.
I have however often felt I was being paid just to twiddle my thumbs as the pharmacy opens at 6.30am and no one else (staff or customer) comes near until 8am.

You could always clean up the PMR looking for duplicates. change of addresses etc.

i worked for asda - enjoyed it at the time but the whole leaving process and target pressures from an overzealous manager did leave a little bit of a bad taste in the mouth. The dispensary team however i still keep in touch with and still see socially on occasions too. Generally i would say asda is good, but like anywhere it depends entirely on the store you end up in. And with almost any supermarket position, kiss goodbye to your social life unless you are very very lucky with your shift pattern!

sounds a lot like my current experience with tesco! target pressures royally suck especially with a very very target driven keen manager. im finding it really hard at the minute and have actually just fired off a hospital pharmacy job application! dispensing staff all lovely though. oh and working til 8 (usually 8:30/8:45) really sucks.
