As a female pharmacist in her twenties hoping to one day start a family, maternity pay is pretty high up on the list when choosing which company to work for. However its not really a question i'd want to ask in interview!! I've tried doing a bit of research but there's not much info out there. Can anyone help please? Info on amount/length of pay, eligibility etc would be greatly appreciated. thanks
If in UK the legal requirement for company to pay you. You may have to sign a statement in your contract that you are not pregnant on joining. TV has been advertising yougov all the week, that is where the info should be.

I wouldn't be so sure that you will stay in the post long enough to need it and i agree that it is not a good thing to mention at interview. I am a self employed locum and I will be making do with Maternity Allowance of just over £120/week for 39 weeks. There is info on entitlements here: Maternity pay : Directgov - Parents but the company specific info will be harder to get. I would not allow it to influence my choice of company though as you have to be happy whilst at work rather than just when off! The company are not allowed to ask you about family plans at the interview stage and I would not chose to volunteer this info myself.
I would imagine that the multiples MAY have packages which are better than statutory maternity pay, however, as stated previously, your primary concern is to be happy in your job so I wouldn't let something like maternity pay cloud your judgement. I had two babies while working for an independent and got not more than SMP (abt £100/week at the time) however I was perfectly happy in my job and my manager was wonderful when negotiating part-time work etc.
I'd just assume that the statutory minimum is all you'll get in community pharmacy.
On the plus side you're in a good job to do a couple of days a week as a top-up while you get down to the serious business of bringing up your children. (see my username!)
