Interviews for Tesco are competency-based as are most interviews for larger companies nowadays - think of this as evidence-based interviewing. The fairest way for an employer to assess and compare pharmacists and their ability to do a certain role is to ask for examples where that person has demonstrated those skills (competencies) relevant to the role in the past.
Whether this is true or not is open to debate as being good at interviews does not necessarily mean being good at a job - that's another topic altogether!
Think of the key skills that are required by a pharmacist and that are important for the role in question and then think of examples in your past experience where you have demonstrated these key skills and be prepared at interview to talk about them with confidence and 'sell yourself' (cheesy I know).
Examples are:
Providing excellent customer service and going above and beyond for the patient/customer
Oragnisational skills
Team work and leadership
Working under pressure
Being able to take the initiative
Being focussed on services
Remember to tailor your responses and preparation to the role and company in question to keep it relevant.
