marine, I wonder if you ended up taking ASDA job. In terms of applying to ASDA job, do you have to wait for 6 month if you are unsuccessful for a position?

    Re: Working for ASDA?

    Hi slxster66,
apologies for not responding earlier but i have been away from the business for a few weeks.

The issue of pay is always an emotive subject and one that seldom gets agreement as we all believe that we should get paid more. It is also one that I am unable to discuss in much detail on a forum like this.

However, the following clarification may help. To work in an Asda pharmacy, colleagues have to qualify and be competent to MCA within 6 months and DA in the following 9 months. This helps ensure that our pharmacists have competent support when they are working.

Pharmacy teachnicians, when they are appointed, receive a higher rate of pay which is approximately £2 / hour more than DA colleagues.

Please feel free to contact me either by e mail at john.evans@asda.co.uk or my direct line is 0113 826 2229 if you want to discuss in more detail.

    thanks
    John

Hi Pharmguru, yes we do. We tend to take on pharmacists for their personality and people skills - we expect you to already have the pharmacy knowledge and accuracy, but we do give you a 4 week training in one of of best stores to get you 'acclimatised' to Asda!

Once you start with us though, dont expect to be stuck behind in the dispensary as we need you sharing your skills and knowledge with colleagues and customers.

It would maybe be worth you doing a few shifts as a locum in community pharmacy to see if it suits you - also make sure that you work within your competency so you again may choose to work alongside another experienced community pharmacist in the early days.

    does this help?

thanks for that josh. Are there any specific locum community jobs in asda at present and when would you suggest I apply. I have always wanted to work with another exp pharmacist so would the best bet be to apply after locum.

    Hi Pharmaguru,
your best bet is to register on our locum database first on here www.asdalocums.com

Then choose a store which is close to you, give them a call and if you are still unsure, go in and have a chat with one of our residents
