    Unhappy Endorsement of Prescriptions

    Hi

I am doing endorsement of prescriptions unit of my NVQ 3.

My boss has taught me a few, however, when I researched them online, it says that they should not be used anymore. When was this??

    I.E

ZD is not to be used, to use DNG

and a major one that I was told is to put 1 X OP, but I have read OP should not be used.

    What is actually right?

    Thanks

The ZD endorsement has been obsolete for several years now. It will be ignored by the pricing office without exception.

The DNG endorsement is used only occasionally... to claim exemption from discount deduction for an unlicensed medicine where no discount has been provided by the supplier. You will not generally need to use this endorsement because most companies which manufacture unlicensed medicines on behalf of pharmacies (eg. coal tar ointments) do provide discounts or rebates to the pharmacy.

The endorsement OP serves no purpose whatsoever and should not be used. If a script for 1 x Ventolin Evohaler is received, the pricing office is well aware than 1 x OP will have been supplied! You would not need to endorse this item. Endorsements are only necessary when they provide additional information needed for accurate pricing. There is no need for endorsements to duplicate information already provided on the prescription..............although this happens frequently for some reason. The endorsement column should not be a copy of the prescription!

Thank you for that, I'll suggest this to the boss.
