1st of all - don't panic. They want to look at how you do things to ensure you comply with the contract.
Have they sent you pre-visit contract questionnaire? My PCT sent us this one.
Community Pharmacy Assurance Framework (CPAF) and Performance Monitoring and Strategic Commissioning Tests - NHS PCC
It is pretty long-winded, but covers pretty much everything. Work your way through it, & put evidence of each thing in a folder that you can give to them when they come. It makes things easier for you & them if you are not searching for paperwork.
Who is coming on the visit? We have a PCT member & a lay member. They will look at some paperwork & talk you & your staff about how you do things.
The PSNC has some info on monitoring visits
Contract Monitoring Pharmacy Contract & Services PSNC
After the visit you will get a summary of what they have seen & and praise for your excellent practices (along with suggestions for improvements in the unlikely event that there are any!)
They will be looking for recorded interventions.

Hi,
I had my first PCT visit last month - I have only been on the register since November, had been working for the company less than a month and the store had moved premises two weeks before so I was dreading it. But in the event it wasn't too bad: I couldn't find a couple of SOPs, we didn't have an updated practice leaflet and we were apparently claiming ETP payments fraudulently because our internet connection had not been activated yet; but all they did was make a list of things to do before the next visit. It also helps if you can make sure anything they mentioned at the last visit has been taken care of.
Good luck :-)
Yes they should send you their information first. Start collating information in one file. I have done these visits with PCT staff as around here if the PCT person if not a pharmacist then the LPC provides a pharmacist to go with them!
Nothing to worry about - PCT can advise what to improve on for next time.
Yes, don't forget to have your smart card and pin ready if you are claimimg these. You may be asked to use the EPS service and they may even bring a test Rx with them.and we were apparently claiming ETP payments
