This is probably slightly off topic so sorry if it should appear elsewhere but does anybody have experience of a good agency for obtaining a permenant position?

Look around yourself - find out the real ethos of your prospective employer.
If they agree with your plans - go for it.
If they run by target driven accountants - possibly give it further thought before committing.
There are still small chains that realise to get the best out of people they have to let local decisions be made but give appropriate HO support. If you are in South Yorkshire I know of such an employer. (Mrs Pharmanaut works for them)

Unfortunately not - I'm in Gloucestershire which seems mostly Lloyds dominated.

I think here is a chance to promote my company to pharmacists looking for permanent positions. I am a qualified pharmacist myself and have set up my own recruitment company for permanent pharmacist and dispenser positions throughout the UK.
We work with a range of companies (mainly in community pharmacy at the moment) from multiples to independents and my focus is on finding the right role for my candidates.
My guarantee is to listen to your needs and requirements and to then try and find you the best match possible. This often means actively approaching people on your behalf and finding out about their roles so that you don't have to - our priority is finding the right role for you and to be honest and helpful at all times during your job search! As this is my own business, I am not trying to hit targets or make as many placements as possible - I have built the business by being ethical and providing the best service possible.

Below is some more information on our free services but please contact me or visit our website for more details:

Our free services and benefits to candidates:
  • Choice ... we work with a range of contractors from multiples to independents and have live vacancies coming up all the time, many of which will not be advertised as yet. We can give you access to those vacancies from a single point of contact. We provide CV advice and assistance as well as giving advice and briefing on interview techniques and structure used by each company so that you stand the best chance of getting the role that you want.
  • Pharmacist owned and operated means we are able to really understand your experiences, skills and requirements on a professional level and match any opportunities to your needs.
  • We know first-hand what each position has to offer from a company perspective right down to the culture in the particular branch you’re applying for. We will also be able to find out any specific information that is important to you about a particular vacancy. We guarantee to give you an honest assessment before you apply.
  • We keep your details anonymous to potential employers until after we have done the research for you and you decide that you would like to apply. This way, if you decide you don’t want to proceed after finding out about a particular vacancy, you will not have committed and sent your details to the company.
  • We are a small consultancy and offer a personal and tailored service; our aim is to find the right career move for you individually. Providing a quality service is not only our priority professionally, it also provides us with the best form of advertising … Referrals and word of mouth!
