Had a card from our green friends inviting me to become a permanent employee and stating salary of £51,193.

More evidence of the "market" being saturated? Too many schools of pharmacy churning out substandard pharmacists who undercut each other to the point of penury? Overseas pharmacists working for a bowl of rice?

More evidence for jobs not worth doing regardless of salary?
More evidence of employer pressure to increase the numbers of pharmacists in order to find those dumb enough to take bad jobs?
More evidence of their need to find pharmacists from any source prepared to work as dictated?

Yeah they must be thinking long term.

Dear Lord! What does it take to convince you that employers prefer full time pharmacists over locums? They increase the salary on offer and you still manage to interpret it as a bad thing. Who says it is a bad job?

I will not argue against your statement now, yes you have a better view of the market, but I promise you to come back to this point once I start practicing

i really doubt they would pay that much if it was not a bad post, in a bad area, with loads of problems
would you pay 50K for a pharmacist if the location/pharmacy/job was not bad? i do not think so

Raoul? You reserve the right to come back at me when you start practising? Why? We are talking now.

As for the salary on offer, I will not discuss my situation on here as I don't post under a nick name. Consequently my confidential arrangements with my staff could be threatened. However, that is not a particularly big salary for an independent.

Also, don't assume because a pharmacy is in a deprived area with a high incidence of petty crime and drug addiction that it is necessarily a bad place to work.
